I also wanted to let you know that things might get a bit slow around here, my aunt was admitted to hospital and its not looking so good. My mom has good to see her and she will keep me in the loop.

On a side note my BF has decided to join my blog. I did mention to him that you had asked that he guest post. That ball has been left in his court but as it stands he's made no commitment.

weekly Spending Recap October 24-30 2011

As I mentioned before I am on a no spending week except for gas because I have money put a side for that. As it stands I have warn the shoes out twice now so I guess there not going back.  Its funny sometimes when you tell your story out loud someone helps to make it a bit better. I told my dad about the frost and my crash with a pillion and the next morning early in the morning my dad showed up at my mom's place before I had even got out of bed (6:45 am) and left me a snow brush with a scrapper. Isn't he wonderful!!

Because I don’t have total access to my blog I haven’t been able to update my side bars, my no spend days or my snowflaking jar. So my current total of no spend days is 143 + this weeks (5) =148 no spend days for the year.

Also as an FYI my Christmas fund is now fully funded at $800.00. Yahooo for being preparied for christmans in September!

I really wish I could comment on blogs properly. There are so many interesting things that I want to comment on that is going on in everyone’s lives. I want to do a shout out to ‘The Misery of Money’ a blog that I hop on and off occasionally. They managed to pay off 5 credit cards all at once, yup 5!!!  Yes I am very jealous but I think that’s great!!! Well done them!!

ON a sad note, I just wanted to pay my respects for those who lost a loved one or their lives today 10 years ago. Its one of those days I will never forget.

Also on Friday my phone was stollen so I now have to figure out what to do about getting anew one.

Weekly Spending Re-cap August 22-28 and Catchup

I just realized that I haven't blogged in 3 days.  It's been a crazy few days. On Friday night I lined up at 11pm to get tickets for Jack Layton's funeral. At 8:30 am on Saturday we got our wristbands and then advised to come back at 11:30m to get the actual tickets. The wrist band guaranteed 1 of 600 spots. I went to the funeral, it was very well done. By the time I got home my BF who came with me and I had been up for 36h straight. Then today I went to Fanexpo which was a lot of walking. My legs are killing me. I am super tired and I am actually having issues writing this blog. Any ways its because of all this that you haven't heard from me.

***next day**
Sorry I was to tired to write so I went to bed. My spending is out of whack again. I put something on my credit card. But I am not worried about it because its less then $100 and its the only thing on it. I was able to go to Fanexpo and not even spend the 10$ that I took. Its interesting how when you are trying to dig yourself out of debt your priorities change. Also I have no desire to acquire more stuff.  I paid the storage unit on Sat. for the last time. I don't expect that I will see any of the money back but knowing that I won't have to budget for it in September is a nice feeling. I have come to the realization that only giving myself 60$ for two weeks is not enough. So I am going to go back to $75 I never realized how much of a difference 15$ makes.

Any ways on to my spending recap.

August 20 (Saturday)
No Spend Day

August 21 (Sunday)
$3.19 shoppers for hamburger buns

All the eating out is because I was in PTBO for a few days to see my BF and I fell a little off the wagon.

Well this was an expensive week. But I knew it would be a little bit just not this much. The gas I put in visa will be paid off from next pay's gas money. And I have already paid for the paint from my car fund. As it stand's my visa will everything I put on it this week and for the cost of bailing my mom out with the storage unit and the Goupon I was stupid enough the let her put on my visa, my balance is drum role: $465.81. Which is not as bad as I thought it was, but not at the Zero I would rather see at the end of my statement.

Not bad, I only really spent money on Gas and I refuse to do a full tank until I get to PTBO. And since I am going to be there for 3 days, I am holding out to fill out there.

Taco Bell $5.65 **

**I avoided doing this post because of the Taco Bell entry. A friend came over and I did NOT WANT TO EAT OUT!! But he pushed and I caved, I am still mad at this! I picked Taco Bell because I knew it was the cheapest place for a decent amount of food. But it was not a thrill to eat and I still cooked dinner once I got home because I needed to have stuff to eat for lunch today. I fell like it was the biggest waste of money. He does not understand my drive to get out of debt nor my reluctance to spend any money. He makes less then me but gosh does he live a larger life.

On our way to TB we have a conversation about B-day gifts. First I don't celebrate my birthday or would rather it not get celebrated. I am also not fond of gifts unless they are practical in some way shape or form, or something I really really want. I asked him not to get me anything, he said no to this. So I asked him to donate money to charity of my choice, he said no to this. So I asked him to get me a gift card, he was uncommitted. Then I told him flat out that I did not want any objects. I am trying to reduce the crap in my life and frankly I suck, SUCK at dusting!! He said no! ARGGG! Its funny really he has had a crush on me for a long time and I have in the past told him flat out that I would never date him. I have not told him every reason I would never date him, just that I don't see him that way, which is true. But let me tell you, one of my biggest pet peeves is people who don't listen when given specific instructions. Last year he wanted to get me a china doll, I told him I would return it. Thank God he had some sense to head my advice. I know that some people would say I am being ungrateful but there is a practical aspect to what I said. I have CATS that knock everything off, no place is safe! I was not willing to spend my days worrying about if this thing got nocked over and like I said I HATE dusting!

It bothers me tremendously when I tell people that there is nothing I need and thus want. Then when they give me something, can't understand why I don't use it and get offended that they spend all this money on something that is collecting dust. People always ask for lists and I just can't produce any. I just don't need anything and until I do I would rather people saved there money then spend it on objects.

** Sorry that was a bit more of a rant than it was meant to be...

$2.25 sponges
$17.61 Gas top-up

Well I was at first kinda back on track with my spending. But man did I fall of  the band wagon so to speak.  But the good news is I got all my weekly goals done. My car is now legal for the road, my BF has got some stuff moved in and we have one coat painted in his room. I am going to do the second one today. I finally met up with my prof and got my Duke of Ed book signed by him and his letter came in the mail.

My car fund is no longer at the $1,000 mark and after first and last month's insurance bill it will drop again. But I am ok with that, as long as I still have a few hundred in the account left to start building it back up I'll be happy. Despite how much I have paid out for the car I still got a decent car for under $4800 and its mine 100%. No car payments just gas and insurance, things that I can tweak as I learn more about the cost of a car.

I need a little bit of advice. I made a large payment to my LoC on July 28 but TD has not got it. SO when I called them up to get my updated figures this month they do not include my last payment of the month. Should I update my LoC with out the July 28th payment  and include it on August or should I weight for a couple of days until the payment shows on their system which will be after this long weekend and then include it in my LoC update. In the past that's what I have always done because in my  mind it's part of  say July's budget not August's budget. But what you think???

Snowflaked $10 left over from paying cell phone bill into retirement fund. Jar at 424.69 + 10 = $434.69

WOW… I didn’t realize how much I have spent this week. It’s depressing to look at it all. Next week I have to get back on track.

I also forgot to mention that on top of all the stuff that we did to the car we also put in this stuff to flush the engine. I used a product called STP that’s designed to unclog dirty fuel injectors in just one treatment. I don’t think the car has ever been done. So it seamed like the right thing to do.

I called my dad’s mechanic to book an appointment for him to look at the car. It has to pass safety and I don’t know what that will cost me.

Finally back to what my spending weeks should look like. You have no idea how happy that makes me.

On a different note I have been thinking about this car that I saw on Friday. I know it has a warranty void on it but I can’t imagine what good the manufacturer’s warranty would be to me for on a 6 year old car. And if I did get it I would still have over 1,000 left in my car fund. I still have to talk to my insurance though to see if they will cover it and what that would mean to my insurance . But I think I want the car… the problem is do I want the car because its cheep and the only car I have really seen in my budget or because I trust the person enough and my own inspection on the car that I don’t believe it was in any major accidents that caused the void in warranty. I know what I said about Pontiac wave’s  in my previous post. And I stand by it. But I don’t need the car to last me 10 years, only 4 if that. I need it more now than I hope to need it in 3 year… I want to be out of the country by then. You see I am in two minds about it. Of course no one has been around to talk to about this. So I have been musing over it which is never a good thing. Because I can talk myself in to just about anything. So am I pep talking myself in to settling for this car??? I don’t know…. What I do know is I have hit the car savings wall. I want to get the car and move on with other things in my life, like my LoC.
